From the north (or west or east)

Take the New York Thruway (I-87) south, get off at exit 21 (Catskill).  You can follow the signs to “Hunter”.  Turn left from the exit ramp, on route 23B toward Catskill.  Follow it to 9W (nine double-you, not nine-west!).  Go south on 9W.  Just past Price Chopper, the road forks.  Take the right fork, the straighter one, route 23A up the hill.  Follow it to Palenville, 8.3 miles ahead.</summary>
